Weekly Continuity and Construction Update (as of August 14, 2015)

You can expect the same level of construction activity next week as you've been experiencing in the past weeks. LOTS!

Sewer work - ew! But most of your loins can rest easy.

The good news for most staff is that the work that was planned for a week day to connect VPR to the main sewer in The Fort will be done on a Saturday. For people who work on Saturdays we will be sure they have a key to the restroom across the street in The Loft work area (phew, no porta-lets!). The question of which Saturday is yet to be determined. Stay tuned! If you have any questions about this, please feel free to send me an email.

Pledge Drive Pilots in Green Room

The team that keeps all the data straight during pledge drives will be using the Green Room as their work area during the upcoming pledge drive. That means if you are planning to use either of the floating spaces during that period, be prepared to enjoy the company of whomever is sitting at the piloting station. Once again, the importance of booking ANY/ALL locations that you're planning to use can not be overstated. Book it or lose it.

Noise and Upcoming Work

Next week the steel arrives! If you read the interview with Pete Nelson, you may recall that one thing he was excited about were some steel panels. They are arriving next week! With a lot of other steel too. We are expecting the noise from steel work to be particularly notable on August 24th and 25th. The next day is when those awaited steel wall panels start to get installed.

Also, there will be roof work about Master Control and Talk Studios. News and Programming staff are making plans for how to handle that noise as it relates to our on-air work.

POTENTIAL NOISE IMPLICATIONS:

• More of the same regarding stone and compaction
• Also Aug 19: Steel arrives - look for the new noise...impact wrench; they will work within the established quiet time window (prior to 8AM; Noon to 1PM; after 3:30PM) for noise purposes
• Weekend cutover for the sewer has been confirmed. We will not need to utilize port-o-lets (Sewer system has to go offline while new sewer connection is made.) Date is TBD, Brian  D. will notify when we get closer.
• Existing historic roof at the back end of the building needs to be extended out over the roof of Master & Talk; that work will be disruptive; schedule tentatively to start on August 24th & 25th
