Scrum notes - March 21

We had our first scrum this afternoon! The goal of these scrums is to quickly give out new information and to answer questions that have emerged during move-ins. And eat candy.

People moving today and tomorrow:: Joe, Laurie, Todd, Mike, Karen, Liz, Frank, Vic.

Here are notes today's scrum notes:

Stuff that's changed:
  • hard hat area is now lobby, cafe, and Studio One - all behind glass doors
  • no longer need to lock temporary construction doors at end of long hallway
  • 3 mobile whiteboards have been ordered for the groups that requested them (Admin, VTED, News)
  • CD archive cabinets for Classical will be stored in Studio B
  • CD archive cabinets for News/Vermont Edition will be stored in Master
  • reference books can be stored on your desk or on the lower chasewall along the exterior walls; communal library will hold non-reference books

"Punch list" of stuff we're working on:
  • installing pull-out drawers in deep cabinets so things don't get lost in the back
  • getting free-standing shelves for audio engineers' offices
  • removing the whiteboards behind Alex's desk and intern's desk - these will be stored for 6-month interim period; this will happen a few weeks from now
  • monitor arms are coming for those desks that didn't have them; 2-3 weeks out

Stuff that stays the same for now:
  • parking
  • bathrooms
  • entrances, keys/codes
  • mailboxes
  • kitchen
  • deliveries

Staff Q &A:

Is the elevator working? Can I use it to move my low filing cabinet?

Yes! The elevator works and can be used for moving things. PLEASE be careful not to ding or scratch the surfaces.

Will supplies like toilet paper and paper towels remain where they currently are for awhile?
Yes, until April 15th.

Will there be treats at every scrum?
Yes! Lally Pops! Lally column is a construction term, and Lally Pops are suspiciously similar to Tootsie Roll Pops.

Staff questions that we "parked" for now:

When do the noise-cancelling headphones get here?
We have a list of who requested them, and we're confirming that what we're ordering is what we think we want. Look for a follow-up with a better answer in Monday's 'big' blog post.

  1. Hello!

Should we feel comfortable leaving laptops in the new space overnight? I have been diligently carrying my laptop to and from work, but it would love to live full-time at my beautiful new desk.
