Scrum notes - March 23

These black-topped surfaces are called "chasewalls."
The goal of these scrums is to quickly give out new information and to answer questions that have emerged during move-ins.  And pester Brian.

People moving today and tomorrow: Jonathan, Sara, Emily, Franny, Mary, Sam S, Liam, Reuben.

Here are today's scrum notes:

Stuff that's changed:
  • two cabinets at the bottom of the stairs by TOE have been designated for Music Dept storage
  • our current cleaning service comes to VPR 3 nights/week, starting April 15th they will come 5 nights/week and will clean the whole building

"Punch list" of stuff we're working on:
  • installing pull-out drawers in deep cabinets so things don't get lost in the back
  • getting free-standing shelves for audio engineers' offices
  • removing the whiteboards behind Alex's desk and intern's desk - these will be stored for 6-month interim period; this will happen a few weeks from now
  • monitor arms are coming for those desks that didn't have them; 2-3 weeks out

Stuff that stays the same for now:
  • hard hat area is lobby, cafe, and Studio One - all behind glass doors
  • temporary construction doors at end of long hallway can remain unlocked
  • parking
  • bathrooms
  • entrances, keys/codes
  • mailboxes
  • kitchen
  • deliveries

Staff Q &A:

Should we feel comfortable leaving laptops in the new space overnight? I have been diligently carrying my laptop to and from work, but it would love to leave full-time at my beautiful new desk.
Yes, you can leave your laptop and other technology at your desk.

Does each desk get a mat for standing?
Five test mats are in house: they can be flipped for standing, or for rolling your chair over. We'll see how they work and then order more, or order standing-only mats for permanent standers.

What's a "chasewall"?
This week, we were asked to be careful of the black chasewall surfaces because they scratch easily (#doilies). The photo at the top shows that the chasewalls line the interior perimeter of the new construction. The photo below shows how not to treat them.
