Scrum Notes - April 13

Welcome to your keyless future!

Laurie is giving all full- and part-time staff electronic key fobs. The exterior doors of the building have electronic pads, you will wave your fob near it to unlock the door.

In this photo of the TOE entrance, the electronic pad has both a keypad and can read the fob. Ignore the keys, wave the fob and watch the red light turn to green. (You'll also hear the pad beep once and the door lock click open.)

If you find yourself fob-less, the new front door will be open during office hours and you can be buzzed in by the person at the reception desk. Also, there’s a doorbell at the TOEF entrance and you can be buzzed in there as well.

Updates:

• Mike reports that the last pieces of furniture for Master Control and Production B have been shipped! This includes the equipment racks and Vermont Edition producer table. Delivery is expected early next week.
• Fire Marshal inspection and alarm testing will be in May. Sorry for the ‘false alarm.’ (Ha! That's a good one.)

• Window opaquing underway - LMA doors, mezzanine windows, crow’s nest windows. (Due to the volume of meetings today in the large conference room, the vendor will need to come back early next week to complete those.)
• The printer by the project room has been reoriented for better ergonomic access.

• New water coolers have arrived! They are sleek and pretty to look at (just sayin'). The Green Room cooler is online and ready to dispense refreshing cool water and piping hot water. The other two water coolers will be online next week.

Staff questions:

Will the new kitchen sink be functional in the meantime, while we wait for a bigger one?
The faucet won’t be installed into the new sink goes in. Until we have a fully functioning BIG sink, the old kitchen will be accessible.

Before moving we were told we could have 2 small file cabinets. I have 1. Can I still get another?
Laurie is working with our furniture vendor to get more "peds" (note: not pets). Please pass your needs along to her directly!

Is parking changing at all on Monday?
There no major changes to parking coming Monday. We’ll be opening up some visitor parking and a few overflow spots in front of the new building, but the majority of staff parking will continue to be on the north side. As work finishes next month on Studio One (and construction workers don't need to park right in front of the building), a bigger change in parking will happen.

And remember...
We are getting access to the cafe and lobby this Monday, but some stuff won’t be finished yet:

• Lights in skylight will be lowered and wired with black wiring - delay in getting the wiring
• Doors and glass panels for the ‘community room’ - 4 to 6 weeks till delivery, then installation
• Kitchen sink is being replaced with a larger one - around 4/19
• Custom farmhouse table and kitchen island - 4 to 6 weeks out
• Final table tops for cafe tables - temporary tops will stay put until a to-be-designed photo project is ready to be installed on the table tops.
• Interior front door - wrong door shipped, new door is being built
• Donor wall/Pantry door - being built now
• Doors for space next to lobby elevator - still to be installed
• TV monitor for cafe - still to be installed
• More items may end up on this list by the end of the week!

All these years, you've walked up and down the long studio hallway and below your feet were endless stretches of cable. Today, some of that cable spilled out of the access panels like spaghetti. Mike assures us this is all "part of the plan." (We choose to ignore the evil laugh he emitted as he walked away...)
