Scrum notes - March 31

Green Room, 1:15 p.m., have at it!

People on the move: Kathleen, Mitch, John D, Lynne, Yu Sun, Angela, Taylor, Anna, Sam Gale Rosen. Over half of our staff has been moved into their new spaces! Huge shout out to Todd for making things go smoothly, and to the staff for being so understanding and flexible.

Today's scrum notes are below this photo of our promising future:

A real, live bathroom!!

Stuff that’s changed:
  • TOEF invites everyone to use their swank new coat rack by the exit from that wing - it's not exclusively for engineers!
  • Construction dust: Neagley & Chase will keep the glass doors closed and they've hermetically sealed off the work area to prevent more dust. A total clean up and wipe down of dusty areas will be done this weekend.
  • The chairs in Talk and Master are now creakier and dustier than ever. They will be replaced with the nicer chairs from upstairs in the old News/Vt Edition area that have the fewest coffee stains.

Stuff that stays the same for now:
  • hard hat area is lobby, cafe, and Studio One - all behind glass doors
  • temporary construction doors at end of long hallway can remain unlocked
  • parking
  • bathrooms
  • entrances, keys/codes
  • mailboxes
  • kitchen
  • deliveries

Punch List additions:
  • Request was made to put up a big map of Vermont in the newsroom; there's a good spot for it behind Jonathan's desk.
  • The sonic experience of working in LMA rooms is challenging; the architects are thinking about how to improve those spaces

Staff Q &A:

What is the plan for all the excess books (non-reference) that we continue to receive?
Good point. In the past they accumulated in the Green Room until some good soul got sick of the pile and hauled them all off to a local library, clearing the way for a pile to grow. (Speaking of which, is anyone heading to a library soon? The Essex Junction Library and the Winooski library take book donations with very few questions asked; they do request no textbooks.) Maybe a volunteer could do this?

Will there be a studio clock installed in the Newsroom?
Yes! We will check when that work is scheduled for and report back.

Will the green room bathroom be available during the next phase of construction?
It probably will not be available, but let us double check before that strikes fear in your hearts.

Have you noticed the construction guys have good taste in music?
Yes, yes we have! As I type this, "Hey! You! Get off of my cloud!" is playing at a pleasing volume in the lobby.
