Next week, the first moves begin. Here is the plan:
Mon & Tues: "Music Camp" is set up in the new conference room in the historic building. (This is located where JVH's and Brendan's offices were, off the old lobby)
Wed & Thur: Music staff leave their current desks and set up in Camp. This is Reuben, Walter, James, Linda and Kari (in absentia).
Fri: Finance moves from current desks to new, permanent desks where Music recently lived. This is Laura, Farryn, Darlene and Madelyn (in absentia)
Reminders to people who are moving:
- your manager should have communicated detailed instructions to you; s/he is your first stop if you have any questions
- take your under-desk-filing-cabinet(s) with you!
- CLEAN your desk after you move out; a coworker will be moving in shortly
- do you need boxes to help move? There's a stash of boxes in the TOE wing; ask Laurie
Next up in the move schedule:
Oct 5-7: Furniture movers will be dissembling the row of desks where Admin & Finance currently sit; this will make some noise
Oct. 10: The next set of staff to move desks is Development. The complete schedule is here.
New around the building:
- The wi-fi dead spot in the cafe has been fixed!! Studio One wifi still to come
- Adirondack chairs and a table are coming in the next week or so for the staff patio
- Final staff bathroom in the front of the building will be usable by the middle of next week
On Friday, there is a donor event with NPR's David Greene; this is one of the "test events" to iron out the kinks of Studio One - Painters and construction cleaners will be in this weekend to get ready for the moves next week
- The sliding door between Master and the Green Room will installed in the next two weeks
- Architectural photographers are coming Tuesday or Wednesday to take pictures of the building; VPR, the construction company and the architects can use these photos for marketing, awards, etc
Patti goofed: an earlier version o this post misstated Finance's new future home. The info above is now correct!
Many parts of the new building are still uncomfortably chilly. Previously, we were told that the temp regulation was thrown off by the fact that other parts of the building were open to the outside. Has that phase ended, and if so, can we expect warmer workspaces?
